Stedman Community Hospice

 Stedman Community Hospice is a leader in end-of life care, where the focus remains on living, not dying.

Adjacent to the main building of St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre in Brantford, the Hospice is a free-standing home that offers a variety of programs and services to meet the needs of the terminally ill and their families.

So much has changed since Stedman Community Hospice opened our doors and we have far surpassed our initial hopes and expectations in providing compassionate care for the terminally ill patients and their families. We have initiated a number of “provincial firsts”, putting Brantford on the map as a model of excellence in hospice care. We have played a leadership role in the development of Hospices across the province who are trying to emulate our model of care for their own communities.

Stedman Community Hospice offers both Residential In-patient Programs as well as extensive Day Wellness programming. Our Residential Program demands have increased more than 185% and we have welcomed more than 3,300 visits through our Day Wellness Program.

The largest increases have been through our Bereavement and Grief Support Programs where we have seen more than an 1,100% increase in just five years. We find for every Hospice patient we help, we provide bereavement care for FIVE additional family members.

All of the Hospice programs are offered free-of-charge to anyone, at any age or stage of a life threatening illness through the generosity of our caring community and the funds raised at the Hike for Hospice. All funds raised at the Hike in Brantford, stay in Brantford to help Stedman Community Hospice.

We are blessed to have more than 100 dedicated Volunteers, who contribute over a thousand hours monthly, to help with the tasks and activities taking place at the Hospice and ensure that we can operate our programs at the lowest possible cost. The wonderful, compassionate, caring work that is being done by staff and volunteers is never-ending.
